For centuries pubs have been the gathering place for those seeking a pint of ale, a hot meal or a visit with old friends — a “public house” in every way.

    1975

    Grand Opening

    Hart & Hound is housed in the Mercer Building, a distinctive brick building that was constructed in 1913 and home to the original Mercer Paint & Glass Company. Construction on Hart & Hound began in January 1972, with the grand opening on January 15, 1975, serving beer, wine and pub fare for weekday lunch and Friday Nite Supper.

    Traditional English Supper and Breakfast Menus

    In 1977, supper service extended to Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings, and eventually to 5 nights per week in 1985. Breakfast Menu Service began in 1980. Hart & Hound has a reputation for “Best Breakfast” in Anytown, winning awards in this category numerous times.

    1990s

    Big Sound, Small Room

    A nationally touring rock band plays the Hart & Hound stage.

    2001

    Open Mic Discovery

    A local singer-songwriter is discovered by a music manager at the Hart & Hound Open Mic.

    2003

    Live Painting

    A local artist paints his first live performances at the Hart & Hound Open Mic. Hart & Hound Public House has the longest running Open Mic in Anytown.

    2012

    Market District Improvements

    Market District street improvements and arch lighting celebration, including installation of the Hart and Hound statues by a local sculptor.

    Expansion

    Interior expansion including patio seating, a private dining room inspired by an English country-house library, and underground-themed restrooms.

    Continuing Beloved Traditions

    The Hart & Hound general management team assumes ownership of Hart & Hound.

    Renovations

    Storefront and foyer renovation, followed by dining room expansion and redesign.
